GUIDE
Open and plot LAS files online
In short
- Open a LAS file in LogPlot Studio and see its curves as a log plot, with no installation.
- Choose which curves to show, set tracks and scales, add formation tops and export.
- Excel, CSV and text logs open the same way.
Steps
- Open LogPlot Studio from the File menu, or drop the file into the workspace.
- Choose the LAS, Excel, CSV or text file. The depth column and curves are read from the file, with units and the well header where present.
- Pick the curves to show and arrange them in tracks. Set each curve's scale (linear or logarithmic), colour and fill.
- Add formation tops, and open a second well to correlate them.
- Export the plot as an image or PDF, or export curves as LAS or CSV.
What is read from a LAS file
The well name and header items (such as company, field, location and API number), the null value, the curve names and units, and the data table. Wrapped LAS files are supported, and so are LAS 3.0 files: the log table and tops are read, and other data sets are listed and skipped. See LAS 3.0 and 2.0.
Other uses
- Check curve ranges and gaps with the data checks.
- Convert LAS to CSV or Excel for a spreadsheet.
- Compare a LAS file with a digitized scan of the same well.
